Educational Qualification

Essential Qualification

Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016, along with subsequent amendments, are exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET.
Ph.D. Exemption for NET/SLET/SET
Candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme before 11 July 2009 shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing University Ordinances/Bye-laws. Such candidates shall also be exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement, provided they fulfill all of the following conditions:
- The Ph.D. degree has been awarded in regular mode from an Indian or Foreign University recognized by the UGC/AIU.
- The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
- The candidate has successfully completed an open Ph.D. Viva-Voce.
- The candidate has published at least two research papers based on the Ph.D. research work, with at least one paper published in a refereed (peer-reviewed) journal.
- The candidate has made at least two presentations in conferences, seminars, or workshops sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC, ICSSR, CSIR, or any similar statutory body. These conditions are part of the UGC exemption framework.
